Jamie Carragher has tipped his former club Liverpool to be Manchester City’s main challengers for the Premier League title this season.
According to him, though, City remain a level above their rivals.
The champions were held to a 4-4 draw by Chelsea on Sunday.
The result keeps Pep Guardiola’s men top of the table, only one point ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal.
After the international break, City hosts Liverpool and Carragher feels the Reds can go there with some confidence.
“Why shouldn’t Liverpool go there and believe that they can be in this title race?
“They are the one team that’s really pushed Manchester City over the last few years.
“It is a new Liverpool team, but they could still be Manchester City’s biggest challengers because they’ve got players and a manager who has been there before,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
