Club Career
Valencia came from Caribe Junior’s youth system, the same team where Ecuador star Antonio Valencia played in his early years to Guayaquil to trial for Emelec in 2008. He was then transferred to Emelec. He played for Emlec from 2008 to 2013.
During his time at Emelec, he played 171 games and scored 33 goals. Valencia scored his first career hat-trick against Peruvian side Sport Huancayo on 7 August 2013, during 2013 Copa Sudamericana first-round match which ended in a 4-0. He helped Emelec to finish the season as league champions with Emelec, the club’s first since 2002. He was awarded the Copa Sudamericana Golden Boot in 2013.
