I join the massive voices today to express our strong dissatisfaction as a union over the continuous brutality, harassment and intimidation of our fellow students most especially in our territory

Over time, the Nigerian students have endured the victimization and unlawful hostel invasion by the police and as law abiding citizens with culture, high moral values and great intellectual capabilities, we have sensitized and oriented our students to be calm and not return the brutality of the police with violence.

It is now very obvious that we have been patient enough and it is on this note that we condemn in clear terms, the barbaric act of the SARS operatives demand for a peaceful habitant for our Students as we cannot stand a community where protectors have turned oppressors

Our demands are:

1. That the polytechnic community and the whole of Ede town deserves a peaceful and safe environment for academic, social and commercial activities

2. That the men of SARS are declared personal non grata in the polytechnic community with impending alacrity

3. That the Federal government should end SARS or better still reform the police, as a matter of emergency

The Students’ union shall be leading a peaceful protest in the polytechnic community and the combative spirit of every gallant stakeholders and ever reasonable students will be highly appreciated if we come in one voice and SAY NO TO POLICE BRUTALITY
