Njoku attended the NFL Combine after being invited and finished all of the positional workouts. He also participated at Miami’s Pro Day and chose to run the broad jump, 40-yard sprint, 20-yard dash, and 10-yard dash once again.
Njoku was expected to be picked in the first round of the NFL draft by experts and commentators. Sports Illustrated ranked him as the third-best tight end available in the draft, and ESPN, NFL analyst Mike Mayock, and NFL analyst Bucky Brooks all listed him as the second-best tight end.
Njoku was signed by the Cleveland Browns on June 15, 2017, to a four-year, $9.52 million contract with full guarantees and a $5.06 million signing bonus.
