Grill was recognized on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Big 12. He played in 29 games, starting the final two. In 13.7 minutes per game, he averaged 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds.

He played a season-high 39 minutes against Oklahoma State in the 2020 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, compiling season highs of nine points and eight rebounds.

Grill ended with seven points and three assists in his Cyclone debut against Mississippi Valley State after scoring eight points against Oklahoma and at home against Northern Illinois. He had five or more rebounds in three of his outings.

Grill, a 2019 graduate of Maize High School in Maize, Kansas, excelled in basketball, football, track & field, and baseball. He was named an all-state player by the Kansas City Star with an average of 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

In 2019, he assisted the Eagles in their 24-1 record and state runner-up finish. As a senior, Grill had a field goal percentage of 48% and a 3-point field goal percentage of 35%.
