Breaking: Iwo Gets Federal College of Education

The Honourable Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu has confirmed that the proposed Federal College of Education in Osun State will be sited in Iwo, Iwo local government area of the State.

The House of Representatives had late last year, passed the bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Education in the state.

The development has generated lots of heat as several towns in the state had shown interest and agitated for its siting.

Some of the towns who have shown interest include Ila-Orangun, Osogbo, Iwo, Ikire, Ilobu, Iragbiji, Ikirun, Ifon-Orolu and Gbongan. They appealed to the governor and other stakeholders to consider their town.

However, Adamu last week during a meeting with a high political office holder from Osun, who had gone to lobby for the community said the matter had been settled for Iwo.

According to a source, who was part of the meeting, said that the minister said “the College will be in Iwo. We have concluded it. It’s just waiting for presidential approval.”

The source also confirmed that Adamu hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari may likely approve it this week.
