Bobby Dick, a bassist, and vocalist of Sundowners has died. Bobby’s family announced this sad news on their social media page saying,

Only the good die young-with heavy hearts we are saddened to say the world’s oldest teenager has left the main stage to grace the heavens with his amazing voice! We thank all of you for your prayers and positive vibes!

We want to remind you that Bobby Dick would only want to hear laughter and melodies when you speak of him! He loved being your inspiration to sing along and to get out there and dance! As he would say, “half of life is showing up”! So please remember to live life to the fullest!

Who was Bobby Dick?

Bobby Dick was a bassist from the 1960s rock band The Sundowners. He performed for The Monkees on their popular 1967 summer tour, along with Jimi Hendrix and Lynne Randell.

Bobby Dick & The Sundowners’ leader has earned an honorary doctorate in rock ‘n’ roll music. He performed at high school concerts and songs in the Brooklyn subway system.

Bobby’s band has performed at venues such as the Copa Cabana, Café Wha, Palace Theater, RPI Fieldhouse, Las Vegas, Forest Hills Stadium, and Hollywood Bowl as well as clubs, conventions, ski lodges, and parties across the country.

Along the way, they have opened for artists such as the Rolling Stones, The Who, Tina Turner, the Monkees, the Righteous Bros, the Dave Clark Five, and, yes, Jimi Hendrix.

Bobby made the decision to quit The Sundowners in 2011 so that he could fulfill his desire to perform as a solo act.

The Lake George Musician Bobby Dick dies after a courageous battle with cancer. Her daughter shared that Bobby was diagnosed with rare cancer.

She said, “My Dad started having lower back pain in May 2022, and by late July he had been diagnosed with a very rare cancer, with fewer than 40 cases having been reported in the medical journals over the previous 40 years.”

Tributes flooded social media after the demise news of Bobby broke out.
