#NaijaparyKitchen: How To Cook Catfish Pepper Soup (Point and Kill)

Cat Fish pepper soup popularly called ‘Point and Kill’ is one of Nigeria’s favourite nutritious dishes enjoyed by all tribes of the country especially men.

This tasty and nutritious dish is very easy to prepare because you just have to point at the catfish at the market after which it is killed and you can then be ready to take it home and cook.

Ingredients for Preparing ‘Point and Kill’

Catfish- 1 medium sized.
Ground pepper soup spices 2 spoonfuls, Habanero/Chilli Pepper/ (to taste)
Dry Uziza/basil leaves, 2 teaspoonfuls (optional)
Water (as required)
Ground Crayfish-1 tablespoonful
1 large Stock cube /1 tablespoon seasoning powder
1 medium Onion bulb(chopped)
Salt – to taste

Procedure for cooking

· Wash Catfish with Salt or lime juice until the skin is no more slippery. After this, rinse in water and cut into smaller pieces.
· Put the catfish into a pot and add water until it well covered. Add onions, stock cubes and salt to taste, leave for ten minutes.
· When the ten minutes is completed, add ground pepper, ground crayfish and the ground pepper soup spices, mix well and allow to boil until the catfish is cooked.
· Add the Uziza or basil leaves, leave for 30 seconds.

Your Cat Fish pepper soup is ready, serve hot and enjoy. You can enjoy your Point and Kill alone or also enjoy with boiled yams, plantain, and Potatoes.
