Amotekun: Group Announce Northern Security Outfit, ‘Shege-Ka-Fasa’

About one month after the governors of the South-West States launched Operation Amotekun as a regional security outfit for their area, a Northern group has also unveiled their own version of the regional security set up.

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the spokesman of the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) on Wednesday, unveiled a regional security outfit for the North known as “Shege-Ka-Fasa ”.

Naijaparry, however, understands from part of his statement that the group is still seeking the support of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) for the outfit.

Sulieman further noted that should the governors of the region fail to give their support, they are poised to seek the required legal backing from federal authorities that will make the outfit work.

“The outfit is designed to be the vanguard of the entire North, encompassing every ethnic group and religion and would be patriotic in its operations in addition to performing general complimentary tasks for enhancing security in the region, ” Sulieman said at a news conference on Wednesday.

This online medium recalls that after the launch of Operation Amotekun,

Abubakar Malami , Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation had stated that the regional security outfit was illegal.

His submission caused a lot of debate on and off the country’s social media space as the governors and the Yoruba nation at large insisted the outfit had come to stay and was not illegal.

An agreement was however
subsequently reached between the federal government and the state governors on the setting up and operation of the regional security outfit.
