Authorities reported on Saturday that a 28-year-old man is accused of shooting himself after killing his ex-girlfriend, two of her family, and another man inside a home in Maryland.

According to a news release from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday afternoon, the five deceased people were discovered inside the La Plata home on Friday afternoon when an anonymous homeowner got home from work.

Is Death a Murder suicide

The sheriff’s office stated that Andre Sales, 28, entered the house and killed his ex-girlfriend Sara Mann, 21, his brother Kai Mann, 18, their mother Sommaly Mann, 48, and another guy who was present, 23-year-old White Plains resident Javon Watson.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sales, who resided at a different house, then shot himself with a gun that was later found. The sheriff’s office reported that two small children who were initially missing were later found uninjured at a separate place. Washington, D.C. is located about 56 kilometers (35 miles) south of La Plata.

Preliminary Investigation

When police arrived at the house they found the homeowner at the front door who said he had returned home from work and discovered five people deceased inside. Two small children who were initially missing were eventually located in another area, safe and unhurt.

According to the press release, investigators and forensic specialists were still examining the evidence on Saturday and interviewing relatives and friends to determine a motive. To determine the precise cause of each death, autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
