5 things you should know as BBNaija season 6 kicks off

Again, it’s that time of year when the Nigerian social media space is inundated with gist and hot takes on the latest happenings of the BBNaija house as the reality show’s 2021 edition kicks off.

The sixth BBNaija edition will run for 72 days — from July 24 and will end on October 3.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will return as the host of the sixth season. Abeg, a Nigerian fintech firm, will be the show’s headline partner while Patricia, a cryptocurrency company, will serve as an associate partner.

Two launch events

BBNaija’s sixth season will open with two launch shows on July 24 and 25. The approach will be the first of its kind for the show.

According to Martin Mabutho, the chief customer officer of Multichoice, both launch events will air at 7pm on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29,

He said a simulcast on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, and Africa Magic Family will be available.

N90 million set aside as grand prize

Mabutho said the grand prize of N90 million, which is the highest in the show’s history, will be given to the ultimate winner. A sum of N30 million will be the cash prize while N60 million will cover other gifts.

No visitors — to keep covid out

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BBNaija’s organisers said the show will adopt global practices and ensure that necessary health precautions and preventive measures are taken to protect housemates.

Mabutho said no visitor will be allowed inside the house. He said all housemates have taken the necessary vaccination before the commencement of the show on Saturday.

People in the diaspora can watch

People outside Nigeria can stream the show live on their mobile phones from anywhere in the world by signing up and subscribing to DSTV Show Max.

No SMS vote

Lovers of the show have been relieved of the cost of voting through SMS. All voting will be on the BBNaija website and mobile site. It will also be available on the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps.
