NAUS lauds Obaseki’s leadership style, as Edo state Govt launches 75 new buses.

The leadership of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) has lauded the leadership style of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state.

The Deputy National Secretary General of the association, Comrade Ogochukwu Isioma, gave the commendation over the weekend in Edo state.

Ogochukwu, who was at the inauguration ceremony of 75 intra-city new buses purchased by the Obaseki-led administration in Benin, said the governor has performed far beyond expectation and urged him to remain focused.

According to him, “Governor Godwin Obaseki deserves all round commendations having surpassed his counterparts in other states in governance despite the present economic situation in the country”.

“I am happy that the governor has delivered a lot on his electioneering campaign promises in less than two years in office”.

“This is evident in the reintroduction of the Edo State Traffic Maintenance Agency (EDSTMA), signing of the Gelegele Seaport and 5,500bpd Edo modular refinery projects MoU, the Alaghodaro economic summit, the Edo Jobs initiative, construction of ultra modern bus terminal, amongst others.”

Ogochukwu said the launching of the new busses would put smiles on the faces of the Nigerian students and the Edo people in general, and urged him (the governor) to create a regulatory agency for the state transport system.

“The launching of the buses is a timely intervention, as the present fuel situation in the country has made many public transporters to inflate their prices in a bid to making end meets. At least, with the coming of these buses, Nigerian students will enjoy improved and affordable transport system; not just the parents(masses) alone”.

“However, I will appeal to Mr. Governor to create a regulatory agency for the Edo state public transport sector and more bus stops. This is one of the challenges the transport system is currently faced with”.
