2023 Elections: Lawyers Arrest By Police For Filing Tribunal Petitions For APC

Three lawyers who are reportedly filing processes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the election petition tribunal in Port Harcourt have been arrested by the Police.

Punch reports that officers of the Rivers state police command picked them on Friday night at a hotel they were lodging.

Though the reason for their arrest is still unknown, the lawyers are said to be preparing petitions against the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the just concluded governorship election in Rivers State.

It was gathered that the legal representatives are attached to the Tuduru Ede’s Chamber, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The State APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, confirmed the incident, saying a statement will be released to explain the reason.

“Yes, it is true. They were arrested last night. We are going to brief the press,” Nwauju stated.
